"about me" boxes and what they really do
I was washing the dishes. True story but some of my best ideas come when I wash the dishes. But i was thinking, those "about me" boxes they have on those networking social sites like facebook or myspace. What do they really do for you? REALLY?
So say I type in everything truthful about myself. Whoever reads will get an accurate picture of me yes? but what if i was boring...then no one would want to talk to me. So I lose by making no new friends.
So I reckon most people consider carefully what they put in right, since other ppl who probably already know you or don't know will be reading this and will be passing judgement on you D: Even though they don't fully know you yet. So say i lied and i wrote really cool stuff like I WAS PART OF A ROCK BAND FOR A FEW YEARS. I WORKED AS A WHITE WATER RAFTER. etc etc lol actually i just hit a snag cause i dunno what i could make up to make me cool :/
nvm just hypothetically i sound cool. :) then ppl would talk to me but then they'd realise i was a fraud. No win there either. :/
So i've decided, instead of revealing myself to everyone just like BLAH. i have to make it interesting somehow that i tell them a little bit but not completely everything so it induces them to start a conversation with me to find out more! WIN WIN. i make more friends : )
but then. i realised i'm really happy with the friends i already have. they're all so awesome that i don't think i need anymore. And friends are alot of maintenance as well... so i don't really need any new friends. I just wasted 10mins of thought time.
nvm.
Also the other day, whilst i was washing the dishes again : )
I think when i meet new ppl I should just be upfront with them and ask them the basic questions. I spend like the first 15mins meeting someone trying to figure out the basics anyway! so might as well save the effort and ask upfront.
These questions are mainly:
- How old are you?
- Are you studying or working? Where/what?
- Are you single?
- If yes, are you keen on anyone atm?
and from there we can slot them into the potential friend or potential potential categories : )
Or does that seem too mercenary? Well it felt like a good method. It may hypothetically work. The worst that may happen is they just think i'm weird.
This feels like an experiment waiting to happen!~ Perhaps I am the scientist to try : )
i always notice. exam time brings out the worse in me.
drastic increase in gaming, internet lurking, forum lurking, music downloads. Internet use suddenly increases dramatically, so does weight =.=
