i <3 googling images

HAHAHAHA i'm serious. I have a slight headache from going out til 1am two nights in a row (damn my weakness!) and so i googled "headache".

Oh i updated cause i got abuse thrown at me, and for the record I am NOT an inverted paper bag! which i have suspicions are alluding to my anti-socialness. I don't think i am anti-social :x i mean i can talk to ppl~ i hope. :D TALK ME TO GUYS. hehe

ohhh i only have 2 more posts until i hit 100 posts on blogger! that's awesome 8D i feel like such a geek *thumps head* hahaha. lately i've been spending alot of my time on Livejournal, mainly for the music rotations. MY GOD i didn't realise people could be so nice to upload all this music @___@ so i try to do my bit and comment as much as i can. :]

hmmm what else have i been doing... well i have been hanging out more (like 100% more) with some old high school friends, compared to like not seeing them at all. So that's fun ^__^ Also having fun with uni friends on various outings! like going to the park near our uni which we played like Witch tiggy? This park also happens to be right next to cemetery, but it's ok cause i quite like cemetery's... during the day. I like reading the tombstones and finding out abt the ppl who had lived. the really really old ones are awesome @__@ but i haven't yet been to the main one in melbourne. I think normal ppl are creeped out by them... well i'll find someone to go with me one day :D

I have also been reading more buddhist texts ^__^ ummm the one i am reading at the moment goes into a quick over view of the buddha's life, but it still takes up like 70% of the book. And i just started into their theories about rebirth and karma. Which is all well in itself but in order to read these texts you have to have an open mind and really question... hmmm can i belive this? DOES THIS REALLY MAKE SENSE? yeh :] you shouldn't blindly believe everything you read ^__^V whoa. i think i'm becoming more mature! HURRAY! YESSSSSSS but unfortunately i'm still clumsy. whyyy whyyy can't i be more graceful. :/ i was thinking of taking up akido? nothing aggressive, just something that's for defence. hmmm i'm also trying to go to the gym, fitness first to be exact, but i don't want to join membership because then i'll feel bad for not going. but it's so expensive! so much $$ @_@"

hehehe i also drive my sis around alot now! whoa. i feel like i'm turning into my mum. according to alot of ppl i'm becoming more and more like my mum... :x i'm still not sure how to take that. since my mum is old @__@ and i am young. but i'm glad i'm becoming more like her cause she is cool :D

anyway must go pick up my sis from vietnamese school! <3

RE: UPDATE UPDATE quyen's update that is x3

LAWL~ so anyway I'm too lazy to post a proper post so i'm gonna go ahead and post an email I would type to my friends. 8D HF READING. btw this has to stay under draft until Adri's bday passes...so in actual fact this won't get posted till about a week later T_T

OK GUYS. UPDATE~~~~

1st.
with the snack money. this is an individual thing...@___@ what snack you buy is what you pay for yourself. Sorry about this guys :x this is because it would get really messy figuring out who bought what and so and so. So to keep it all neat and tidy the snack amounts are not included.

2nd (new).
Dw lucy just buy the swatch one. It'll be ok :] if not i will just wail a the ppl who complain, even if it's adri herself =_=

3rd.
THANK YOU PPL WHO SENT ME EMAILS WITH AYE ARRR <3>: )
Well the story is (btw lien just cut and paste this if you wanna make the behind the scenes thing):

I went to HARVEY NORMAN to get it printed.
The lady there was like...uhhhh did you photoshop that person in.
me: @____@ *nods slowly* yesssss....
lady: umm well hmmm, it's kind of obvious....
me: AHHHH I TRIED REALLY. CAN YOU HELP ME T___T
lady: well you could use the opacity and the blur to make her less shiny...
me: *nod nod* I have it on my laptop
lady: well sit at that bench and you can work on it
me: OMG THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH TT___TT *tears of gratiude*
lady: ummm ok no probs.

me: *smiles nervously at lady* ummm can you have a look at it for me?
lady: *comes over spends 10mins on the comp tweaking* here come take a look
me: OHMYGAWDDDDDD~ IT LOOKS SO GOOD *insert random fangirl movements, arms flailing etc etc.* so can I get the 16" by 24" ^___________^
lady: yeh sure
me: when do i pick it up?
lady: ummm well if you wait for like 15mins I can do it now
me: SUPER HAPPY SIMLE-O BEAM *pays money*
lady: *insert lonnng clickity clack of printer* OMGGG~ I DID THE WRONG SETTINGS I'LL HAVE TO PRINT IT AGAIN
me: TT_TT
lady: hey do u want the bad copy?
me: *nod nod* wheeeeee~
lady: kk here you go finished printing, I also timmed the good picture for you. :D
me: *new found love at Harvey Norman* THANK YOUUUU~

and that was my story. :D btw guys I;m keeping the bad version OK >: D it's to remind me of how random my life can get :D. btw i originally put this as no.2. um i'll move this further down the list cause there's still otehr stuff i wanna type. 8D

Kays~! i'm done now.

pharm chem stuff abt Boiling pt + pressure changes

needed somewhere to offload this info. i needed to update anyway. where else is a better place? :]

don't bother reading all this unless you do chemistry. seriously, i wash myself of any torture you inflict on yourself by reading all this. :]

btw up there is my ternary graph I leeched off the net and edited for my task. <3>: ) says:
if u increase the external pressre of a system

oh god...

for a system to boil the vapour pressiure of a liquid must equal the external pressure

when we go up into the mountains the external pressure is much much lower

and so lower temperature is required to increase the vapour pressure of the liquid
_∮Jes o(‧"_"‧)o sie〥 says:
ha~ ~ might say liquid boils at external pressure, if external pressure is lower, liquid boils at a lower degree
quinɴy. [momotsuki vers.II: 8.4%] {studying, I know I am study} EMAIL SPAMWARS. >: ) says:
but i dunno how to explain that in terms of energy
_∮Jes o(‧"_"‧)o sie〥 says:
i don't know about the energy , is it that the system requires less energy to boil against the pressure
quinɴy. [momotsuki vers.II: 8.4%] {studying,} plz don't bother unless it's about study. says:
hmmm
quinɴy. [momotsuki vers.II: 8.4%] {studying,} plz don't bother unless it's about study. says:
cause i dunno how temperature changes the vapour pressure

Jessie didn't know the answer to that, so i asked adri.

quinɴy. [momotsuki vers.II: 8.4%] {studying,} plz don't bother unless it's about study. says:
how does
quinɴy. [momotsuki vers.II: 8.4%] {studying,} plz don't bother unless it's about study. says:
temperature affect vapour pressure?
Adriana says:
oh gosh
Adriana says:
pharm chem?!
Adriana says:
anything but that quyen
Adriana says:
anyways
Adriana says:
i'll just go searching
quinɴy. [momotsuki vers.II: 8.4%] {studying,} plz don't bother unless it's about study. says:
. . .
Adriana says:
mah - so temperature increases vapour pressure
Adriana says:
b/c the molecules in the substance has increased kinetic energy
Adriana says:
so when they hit the surface
Adriana says:
they have a higher likelihood of getting out
Adriana says:
u kno how molecules move around randomly
Adriana says:
some hit the surface
Adriana says:
and if the kinetic energy is high enuf
Adriana says:
it'll get out
Adriana says:
increase of temp = increase of kinetic energ
Adriana says:
ie. they move faster - more energy
quinɴy. [momotsuki vers.II: 8.4%] {studying,} plz don't bother unless it's about study. says:
keep going
Adriana says:
vapour pressure btw is the stuff on top of the substance
quinɴy. [momotsuki vers.II: 8.4%] {studying,} plz don't bother unless it's about study. says:
how does that change VP
quinɴy. [momotsuki vers.II: 8.4%] {studying,} plz don't bother unless it's about study. says:
. . .
Adriana says:
if more stuff get out of the substance ito the vapour above
Adriana says:
then that increases the pressure of the vapour
quinɴy. [momotsuki vers.II: 8.4%] {studying,} plz don't bother unless it's about study. says:
OMG
quinɴy. [momotsuki vers.II: 8.4%] {studying,} plz don't bother unless it's about study. says:
YOu'RE RIGHT
quinɴy. [momotsuki vers.II: 8.4%] {studying,} plz don't bother unless it's about study. says:
<3>_<
quinɴy. [momotsuki vers.II: 8.4%] {studying,} plz don't bother unless it's about study. says:
cause it sounds right
Adriana says:
oh ok
Adriana says:
haha
Adriana says:
cool then

sweet. thanks guys :]
much love.

Tyre-d

ok it was a lame pun xP~ hehehe.
This week was interesting. I studied a whole lot during the week. Stayed at Adri's house til 11:30 ish on Thursday night to finish the Pharm Chem online practical. Stayed at the library til 7:00pm on Wednesday to finish summarising one physiology lecture...omg never going to study at the library after school again. The amount of noise created by the Glenny students who go there to socialise... when did meeting up at the library suddenly become cool? ugh. shoo you ppl. give me back my quiet library.

Managed to present my speech on Sunburn on Tuesday. I thought I did pretty well considering I stayed up til 2:30am ish to finish writing it and woke up at 6:00am to catch my physiology lecture. damn duong's voice inside my head. I was considering sleeping in and skipping physiol but her voice was chiding me...so I dragged myself out and went. TT___TT

oh dear. This week is Allied Health Night on Thursday. It's not that I'm not looking forward to it, ok maybe i'm not since it's at some club/lounge thing and i'm not really into just standing around and just drinking. The idea slightly bores me. But I guess it's good to spend time with my friends. *hides in corner* :X The outfit thing is still a bit daunting. What to wear... bleh. heels = cold, pain. boots = not night time wear enough. *big sigh* mmmm i'll just put it out of my mind for now. :3

Anyway. NEW BOOKS READ. Agatha Christie's mysteries with my favourite character Miss Marple! Also read one of Janet Evanovich's in-between-novels. hmm another love interest for the main character has appeared T__T when will she end up with one guy?! geez.

ok dinner then study then SLEEP. So tired from driving to the city and out the other side and back. I nearly crashed twice... x___x good thing Fi was my front seat passenger. Hooray for her mental alertness despite her flu. :X ahem. good thing I take the train :D
oh. note for yin: GOOD WORK ON THE MASS UPDATES. as if update when I don't have time to read it.
note to everyone else: I really don't go on msn anymore! really! study is killing me. well my attempts at study are killing me :D

M-Flo - Expo, Expo

*squeee* New M-Flo album and I changed my mind about it. When I first dl'ed it and listened my reaction was along the lines of ewww so slooooow. But after listening to it again closely I found a few gems. :3 Like Orbit-3, Magenta-rain, Prism and Come again. I guess it's similar to his earlier albums (not the remixes) but i recommend it!

I liked it enough to bother uploading it for anyone who might want to listen to it!
Download M-Flo - Expo, Expo.

ok soooo cbs atm cause it's lagging from all my dl's...eep. :X But if you like M-Flo and you REALLY want to listen to this album and you can't find it on any torrent sites, I'll uploads for you :] But only on request. :P

Oh i found heaps of other random songs I like but i'll post them up another time.

OH FUNNY THING HAPPENED!
I figured out how to turn on the headlights. :)
When I say headlights I mean headlights without HIGHBEAM. I think i was using it this past two weeks....eep :X not my fault! I didn't know that when you push the indicator forwards the high beam turns on! I didn't know the blue light was the high beam indicated on. But yeh mum was driving my car and she was like...why are your highbeams on? me: *blinks* what is...this....highbeam?
LOL jk jk i know what highbeam is jsut not where it's located in my car. @____@
oh and I think i like driving. Especially when i'm just driving myself and it's either night or too early for ppl to be up. ah~ it's so...peaceful. ^___^

Oh also this week i missed out on Caterina's birthday mango cake from Crown cake shop :X NEXT BIRTHDAY WE'RE GETTING CAKE FROM CAKEWORLD <3 ummm oh yes I have all the pics of my cakes and my big ball of yarn on my laptop now (thanks to my trusty SD card reader!) but no time to upload them yet! here's a pic of me studying on my laptop at my local library. G/W FTW.

*ahem* yes well i'm not photogenic! what can I say :P hehehe. I was at the state library earlier but my webcam wasn't working...shame really cause our state library used to be our museum and it's really big and pretty with awesome architecture. Dw i plan to study more at the state library from now on! It's so quiet and it has free wireless net AND it has power ports AND it has comfy chairs AND cool lighting AND it has books. Now I just need to hunt down the water fountain and I could live in there! hehehe.

anyway sleep early tonight!

oh yes! I'm going to be going to the ALLIED HEALTH NIGHT (for all health science students) at some night club/random bar and since I'm unco about dressing up pretty, ppl are obviously giving me so much advice. My poor head @___@ but yeh i'm trying to decide between outfit #1: grey short shorts + black leggings + black top + flats + grey trench coat + shiny bling 8D or oufit #2: silky shift dress + black leggings + flats + grey trench coat. You may notice that both these outfits are leaning towards the shades and aren't actually colours. MUAHAHAHAHA. But both these outfits require me to purchase 7/8 leggings...*sighs* i really didn't want to buy anymore clothes, but i guess i'll be using leggings anyway.

ANYWAY SLEEPS! zzzZZZzzz a lot of ppl have been having problems recently and they've been talking to me about it, which is not in anyway bad at all! I'm here for you all :] except it's been destroying my sleep. only had like 4 hours for the past few days. Passed out in medicinal chemistry lecture and Lusi and Duong took the opportunity to draw on me. . . thanks guys X___X hhahaha when i woke up it was funny cause i had this massive pen line dribble down my page. I'd started writing and then there's just a line...ahahha I amuse myself too much :/

I also find my lectures WAYYYYY too funny. Like rheology man's lectures on solubility.

"Here let me draw it for you! *does hand sawing motion with a karate chop hand*" LOL

"It's a (something something) constant so basically it's constant" ORLY?

"When you read that it's a poorly soluble substance, a little light bulb should go off in your head that makes you say OH! (*quyen waits for some epiphany*) that means that it's solubility is not good" *snort laughter*

yehhhh cracked up too much for a lecture =.= didn't help I was sitting next to little lucy and how my cardigan's fur started rubbing off on her jumper. she had the cutest angry face EVER! hehehe all indignant like as she was rubbing off the fur/woolliness. awww sry little lucy but i laughed so much my abs hurt xD

ARGH i find too much stuff to laugh at =__________=" *fails* okm MUST STUDY. but sleeps now :3

picture updates. finally~

Having now got my laptop back all nice and...newish. The technicians had to replace the Hard drive, the DVD-rom and the webcam! There was something they said which kinda freaked me out, when i called them to check up on my laptop. "Oh the parts have arrived and now we're just going to replace the old parts and it should work, if not we'll just try different parts." . . . um thanks. @___@

Well anyway now that i have my laptop back and so my SD card reader I can upload my phone pictures! So hang in their as I load 'em up.

adri

ohhhhhh ok i got lazy to do post them all up. So i found a cool way to make a slide show. I made it with one of the already available sets of photos from my GDPT chu nien 20 trip.

Thats so cool 0_0

Next is photos from my early bday thingy with my uni friends. :]

Bowling with my Uni friends.

I uploaded my pics from my mobile phone but I can't make a new set. I'm leeching flickr's service so i only get to make 3 sets :P hehehe. Well you can still check them out on my flickr page.

I might go back to using photobucket...provided it has an upload tool for vista. Enjoy the pics guys! *fatigued*

The wrong train.

"Originally Hawthorn was a terminus with a single platform... In 1890 an island platform was constructed using a canopy from the original Flinders Street station for the new, now closed, branch line to Kew."

Today I had one of those few lucky days where I got to go home early/ As I was waiting on the platform who should come up to me but Roy aka Bok Choy. It turns out he never normally goes home at that time and neither did I. So it was chance that we happened to meet. But more was destined. As we fell to chatting and generally catching up on what had passed since we had last seen each other, (if I recall correctly it was also on the train) the train arrived clearly named "Glen Waverley" and so without further ado we got on.

But alas all was not well. As we travelled out of the city Roy suddenly sat up straight (Roy was a typical sloucher, not that it's his fault, poor lad), and cried out "OMFG WE'RE ON THE WRONG TRAIN!" At this point I was still clueless and just vaguely blinked at him...wha? It turns out he was right, we stepped on the Lilydale train and managed to get off at Hawthorn station.

Well what a reunion this turned out to be. I actually found it quite a hilarious situation. Firstly I had met Roy at a time I would never have met anyone, secondly it was raining, thirdly Hawthorn station was basically a platform with a tin roof and fourthly as we got off the train the train going back into the city left. So we were stranded for 12 minutes, spent throwing the blame backwards and forwards.

The rest of the trip proved quite uneventful with us going back to Melbourne Central and waiting for Kasing aka Ivan to come and hand Roy car keys, and me driving Roy to Ivan's car. The End.

Well not quite, as for the rest of my day. As I was driving home from work I came across the aftermath of a car accident...So scary. All these sirens and flashing lights and policemen and the smashed up car (I think the car smashed into a pole on the left side of the road as it was turning?). Well it was frightening how a car can prove fatal. I remember that question poised in a book somewhere.

"If there was a new invention that could transport you hundreds of times faster but killed more than a hundred thousand people a year, would you allow it to be used?" I think it went something like that, but it was asked in reference to the car being the invention. But it's true though, many people do die on our roads each year. :/ I just hope everyone takes more care when driving. Especially with conditions like today, wind and rain.

Also today I bought fuel for my car for the first time! :D *very proud* But if you think about it there's nothing good about it. I'm just contributing to the earth's pollution, using up a finite resource that took millions and millions of years to form, and using more money. I also shudder to think of the energy wasted a heat when the crude oil undergoes fractional distillation, and the purification processes after that. @___@

Well enough rant tonight! I have an oral presentation due in 2 weeks! Gonna try to memorise it and have pretty slides. :] I also need to get my laptop back. T_T stupid techinicians, they told me when i gave it in that they'd only take two weeks. Then a week after that tehy said they're ordering parts. Then a week after that they tell me the parts haven't come. Then after that (today) I called them and they said that the parts should be arriving TOMORROW and that before there was a problem with "registering the parts with Sony so in actual fact it is Sony's fault" that's right biatches pass on the blame. *is annoyed* >__> Well I'm grumpy and I'm determined to throw a hissy fit. I keep replaying what Yin told me about the Technician's knowing nothing and searching for porn on my laptop. I DON'T HAVE PORN! DON'T YOU DARE TOUCH MY ANIME! DON'T YOU DARE TOUCH MY MUUUSIC OR MY GAMES. T_T what also annoys me is that they say they will "call me back" but NEVER have they EVER called me. I've been the one always calling. I'd like some reciprocal in this relationship plz. =_=

anyway. eats something light then sleep! *flees*

Back to hitting the books. Literally or not?

"Classical Chinese painting with real flowers"

First day back at Uni and I must say I was pleased to see everyone again! Also my attitude towards study this semester, I believe has changed for the better. Just tonight I did some extra reading and note revision! So proud of myself. But I do wonder how long this determination will last for. But I think it all started when Adri dragged me out to play badminton by taking me to the gym first. *is excited*

Oh yes. Some sad, bad news. I must have not completed some unit work or I failed my exam, but now the case is that for Pharmaceutical Chemistry I need to do a supplementary assesment in the form of a written task. Apparently it isn't particularly "erroneous" (sp?). I'm just happy i don't have to sit another exam. So the lesson from all that is to study a little each day and not have a huge pile of work you have to go through two days before exam, which from past experience I get really fed up and only end up going through (if i'm lucky) half the work. So study little bits at a time!

I was reading this book called "Widening the circle of love", I bought a while ago written by the Dalai Lama, but translated by Jeffrey Hopkins. There was a part that really jumped out to me concerning meditation.

Meditation is outlined as a "daily practice to identify the nature of the mind and concentrate on it." Personally I don't think I'm ready for the meditating stage, since it is reccommended that meditation be practiced in the morning. I can hardly stumble in a straight line let alone "sense a state of mind devoid of thought but not asleep, in which the object is a reflection of the mind's luminosity and knowing". Sound HC doesn't it?

But what interested me was a tip regarding meditating in the morning.
"It helps not to have eaen too much the night beore, nor to have slept too much; your sleep will be lighter, and this makes the mind lighter and sharper the next morning. If you eat too much, your sleep can be thick and heavy, almost like a corpse."

This sounds very reasonable to me. I think from now on I shall try to eat a lighter dinner. I also find that if i am too full and fall asleep I do not dream. Perhaps there is a connection? Well either way, eating lighter foods like vegetables is much better for you than eating too much meat.

Also some fun news! I'm singing a duet with a friend for Vietnamese Mother's day. The song is called Bong Hong Cai Ao which translates to Rose to fasten to clothes (?). I know it sounds a bit strange but maybe "Brooch Rose" sounds cooler? hehehe. The song is a bit hard since I'll be singing in another language and also there are a few high notes which I'm finding it hard to hit. eep! :X well must keep practising!

I be sorry.

I'm sorry my blog! I have neglected you shamefully over the past 2-3 weeks. But bear with me a little longer til once again the semester starts and i hunt down time-wasting vices, which is where you come in. 8D

Let me give a few reasons for my lack of time spent on cyber space:
- I'm writing an article for the trip I took with my Buddhist group friends

- I'm knitting a good friend a scarf for his birthday. But I may be reconsidering this due to the curling nature of the scarf and his drunken behaviour at a party 4 hour before.

- getting my P's. This was an extremely extrenuous undertaking but i managed to pull it off! Now most of my time is spent driving.

- Baking. I'm trying to perfect my sponge cake...

- Cooking. Inventing new dishes, mainly vegetarian, and trying old ones.

- exercising. well brisk walk more like it. But I did go gym with Adri!

Well that's it for now. Study should have slotted in somewhere, but unfortunately did not. now. sleep. *jumps into bed*

These boots are made for walking.

Well I'm definitely overdue for an update. Sorry to all my loyal readers, if I had any in the first place. teeheehee~

Main highlights I can think of that have recently happened:

I went to Xuat Du, an "excursion" with my smaller group in the youth group group. We went down to Rosebud for an overnight stay and wow! It was an awesome experience. I actually passed out at home from lack of sleep. LOL I'll cut and paste the article i'm writing for the Nganh Thanh Website cause i really cbs detailing it all again.

I got Boots and a Ralph Lauren golf shirt from my much loved auntie. The boots were for my birthday and the shirt was a belated congratulations-you-passed-the-last-year-of-secdondary-schooling. Obviously I don't play golf but damn those boots are nice! Dark brown and mid calf length, with a little heel. I think she's turning me girly...I never used to like shoes. The extent of my shoes collection was runners (spring, autumn, winter) and thongs (summer).

I believe my goals are contratdictitng each other. I want to lose some weight and get much fitter and increase my blood circulation. I'm actually scared by all that stuff they talk about BMI and your health and stuff. I calculated my BMI and I'm just BARELY healthy. omg... what if the scale TIPPED and I was left for OVERWEIGHT. oh noes TT well my other goals are my food goals which include eating a souffle, trifle and the perfect pizza. So the eating thing and the losing weight thing...eh not so good.

I got my first bill. This is in fact my Car insurance bill TT__TT it covers third party, fire and theft for up to $5000. So Please don't come too close to me, I might run you over and then i'd have to pay an excess of $800. no one wants that :]

Oh yes i also got a car! 1994 Toyota Corolla Csi Limited. Burgundy! with a nice sound system.

Thank you to all my kind friends.

I didn't even notice I had turned 18 until I got killed in Gunbound and Lyn told me to go sleeps. Then I came onto msn and everyone reminded me. hehehe. Too busy gaming to notice turning older ._. I don't like how that mirrors the rest of my life. jk i'm sure i'll turn out fine.

Early 18th birthday celebration.

*puts aside book to write blog* hehe it's such a good book :D

Due to all the nagging "QUYEN UPLOAD PICS!" I will be uploading the pictures from bowling (at the start of the year with Uni friends) and my early birthday photos.

OMG after uploading the bowling pictures we took, a photo of Adri and me was asked to be added to a group of photos called "Fantastic portraits" *sighs* It was a shot taken with the Quyen technique *stretches out arm with camera and presses button* hehehe. It must've all been the camera.

note: Adri when you read this or when you reply to my IM let me know if you want it to be added or not. I don't mind either way. I guess I was just shocked and flattered they thought it was "Fantastic". BTW you're so pale compared to me! I didn't realise how tan I was. Well it was summer.

Anyway. About today! Today was my early 18th birthday party with my Uni friends. It was early because some people were planning to go away for the holidays so I wanted to get it out of the way.

Thank you SO MUCH guys. omg you made me a plate of sushi and Duong made me a CAKE! the pictures are up on my flickr account.

http://flickr.com/photos/quintessential/

Adri please send the link to the other girls.

*5 hours later*

*was re-reading "The Ill-Made Mute" by Cecilia Dart-Thornton*

One of the main characters, Thorn has to be one of the most coolest, most amazing characters EVER. *sighs* if only he were real.

From "The Ill-Made Mute" when we are first introduced to Thorn:

In that brief glimpse, it came to Imrhien that to describe this stranger as 'handsome' would be doing him an injustice. It would be as adequate as applying the word pretty to a sab.e sky jeweled with stars, and those stars lowering their reflections like glimmering nets into a wintry sea.

Lean and angular was his face, the features chiseled, high-boned. Beneath straight eyebrows his dark eyes seemed to burn with a cold fire, piercing. His jaw was strong and clean-shaven, although brushed with rough shadow. The hair, gloss black as a raven's wing, was swept carelessly bak from his brow, the front locks pulled loosely back and knotted together behind his head and falling, bound, nearly to the waist. Unfastened - she imagined - it would be a cloud of soft darkness, a cascade of shadow.

As young and yet as long-enduring as Spring he seemed to Imrhien, and all in that flash she had noted he was tall and broad of shoulder, with the hard-thewed look of a warrior. There had been no defect.

Do I need to say anything more? *swoons* Manly perfection? Alas tis an impossible image, it shalt only be attainable in the fleeting light of dreams. teeheehee~

Fight or Flight?

This is in relation to the incident today concerning the shooting of 3 people in Melbourne's CBD.

The Age article

So the man who died was someone who tried to help another human being in need. Now the topic taken up by some of the media is one concerning whether or not this outcome of a good Samaritan will affect our decision to help those in immediate danger.

I can explain the fight or flight response in physiology terms, but that doesn't help in determining whether or not one would actually stay to help or run away. I guess it all depends on your character and what the structure of your thinking is like. I really don't have an answer to this. You might be able to predict that person X will do "this" because it is what he did when faced in a different type of situation but with a similar decision. But then when it is boiled down to that millisecond the chance is 50:50 either way. It's like trying to fore tell the future.

All I can say is that when I am faced in a similar situation I hope I will have the capacity to find a way to help but doing so safely. If only life was so easy.

Code Geass episode 7

So far I like this anime. The character is very similar to Raito/Light from Death note, the same anti-hero kind of character with a slight hint of troubled past. I like how he at least seems more humane, arising from his relationship with his sister.

Suzaku reminds me of Syaoran from Tsubasa, but with a cool machine called Lancelot (this brings him closer to a more Kira like character from Gundam SEED). Syaoran is cute yet at the same time manly. *squee* (another fangirl factor) Fuffie(?) reminds me of Lacus Clyne from Gundam Seed, but with a bit more spunk. But so far these characters are pleasing enough. I think there should be some more serious factors coming into play later, but at the moment it's just establishing the main players like Karen (ohhh I can't wait till I see the mecha she'll be piloting @__@).

I love the mechas, I think they did a good job into designing them since there are a few pretty realistic factors (I question the credibility of something so big moving so quickly but *shrugs* that's the problem with a lot of mecha anime.) like the wheels for mobility *thumbs up* and the ropes to help give them get some "lift" and be able to sort of fly (see at least they don't try to add flight! Some realistic factors ;)

Episode 7 is when they're going to clear out yet another ghetto in Area 11 (so called "cleansing"...*punches Cornelia's nose*). This is like a direct parallel to the apartheid situation in South Africa. *shudders* I remember studying that in my History elective. The South African Police force (controlled and made up by the minority of "whites") would have random night raids of the ghetto/shanty towns. How horrible. :( A lot of people were killed no matter if they were men, women, children or the elderly. I'm glad that part of history is finished. But there are still so many problems out there. Hopefully in two or three years I'll get a chance to do some volunteer work in developing areas. I heard there are a few programs to Vietnam, or I might have a look in the Africa areas. *sighs* I'll consider it more closely in a few more years.

oh goodie. :] "Zero"/Lelouch has just decided to create his own army! whee~ this is getting more interesting. hehehe >: )

mmm. I was listening to Noir again as I was studying. I really really like the song Em More by Yuki Kajiura. Funny I don't remember it in the anime but the music Yin sent me is from the blanc dans NOIR. Well whatever it is I like it. *thumbs up*

EDIT: zomg. *swoons* The order of the Black Knight has appeared. It's like it's taken straight out of a fantasy medieval novel. Of course I don't fully support power belonging to one body, and having the ability to say what is justice and what isn't, so easily corrupted you know, but it's nice to have that ideal played out. yayayay! so awesome. :]

Testing testing 1, 2, 3.

Watch my posts all become magically spelt correctly! I wonder how I could be doing it?

That's for me to know you all to never find out. I prefer you all think that I'm one very smart and literate cookie. ;)

Let's see what else I can do here.

I can now make a table!

column v thing
row > thing

I can now add a MAP of where my university is. [APPARENTLY I CAN'T CAUSE MY WEB BLOG DOES NOT SUPPORT IMAGE SOMETHING *fumes*]

a tag? I am not sure what a tag is but I think you might use it to tag images?

Technorati Tags:

I can add a photo of (clockwise) me, Winnie and Grace! Somehow this photo makes me feel like I'm a pre-teen. But uh I could've done that before anyway... [APPARENTLY I CAN NOT DO THIS EITHER *rages*]

Look! a html. :] But I could have done this before too. =/

A web page I am looking at the moment: We are what we do.

I can use the cross out function text editor thing.

I can use the underline function text editor thing.

ok I think that's enough excitement for one day now!

Can you guess what the magical transformation was from? *prods*

*downloads plug-ins* [CORRECTION: one plug in everything else is crap] whoa. so nifty! I need emotes. hmm. (hey apparently that's the correct spelling of hmm. not hmmm <--no that's wrong.)

found a plug-in for it! now I can express my over exaggerated emotions! [CORRECTION: I can not express it because it would not let me install that plug in until I had something called a .NET Framework version 2.0.50727 *stabs*] yay. (WHAT! apparently there is no correct spelling of yay. Yay! YAY <-- that is correct though, I think they just assume it's an acronym. Yes.Am.Yaying)

I've had my fun now.

New verdict: this is no longer fun. It will let me upload pictures and says I have to set up a FTP(?) like I even know what that stands for. I am so ready to hurt this company and Sony. I want my emotes :(

*squeeeeeeee* I hear I have a car nows :B

.

.

.

.

HAHAHAHAHHHAHAHAAHAHAHAHA
ROFLCOPTER

I have a car now. :]
It's the Toyota Corolla 1989. wheeee~ I haven't even seen it. =.=
It's red.
It's a small car.
That was fast. 0_0"
I still need to get my P's.

On other news.
I heart Foobar2000 v.9
It hardly uses any RAM when minimised.
It's not eye candy but the sound quality > windows media player.
Foobar is not a media player, it is merely a sound player.
I still heart it.

hahahha news of my new car has made me go dumb. =_______=

Cue sheets + True audio

I swear i google-imaged "cartoon codec" and this is what came up. Try it if you don't believe me.

This is just a post to pass on the knowledge I gleaned from dealing with Cue sheets and true audio format(has nothing to do with pokemon, except the other day i renamed Daryl who shall henceforth be known as Darylmon!) :]

First off you'll need to know what a Cue sheet is.
A cue sheet, or cue file, is an ASCII (plain text) file that specifies how the tracks of a compact disc should be laid out. Cue sheets commonly have a ".cue" filename extension. They were originally used for the CDRWIN CD recording program, but are also used with other CD software as well as music and video playback software.
What I take this to mean is that it's like a wordpad file. When someone records say a concert, obviously the resulting file won't have seperate tracks. But this is adjusted by creating a Cue sheet (.cue), which lists the different times and may contain the titles of the added "chapters". I guess another way of looking at it is thinking of a piece of cloth: this is the continuous flow of audio. When you add borders/lines to it by say gluing pieces of felt to it, you create several points where parts of the fabric can be identified.

Most often these cue sheets are used in conjunction with ripped DVDs. But in my case I was dealing with a large True Audio file (.tta) with an added cue file. (just a note, i've never dealt with a tta file before and didn't even recognise it as an audio file) If you don't have a codec for the tta file i suggest you google it for whatever media player you use. My personal preference is winamp5 but for some reason they only have one for winamp2 *eyetwitch* so now i have to use windows media player *stabs*(my main problem with wmp is it's general lagginess on any computer/laptop i use, oh and it's crap sound output).

The tta file I had could be substituted in your case with an mp3 file or any other sound file. Once you're sure you have the codec you can begin listening to the huge sound file by opening the cue file. Ok let's say your media player couldn't read the danmed cue file. So what you need is a plugin that enables you to play said cue file. This once again involves alot of googling. The main problem for me is that my player of choice winamp had a plugin for the cue file but didn't have the codec for the tta file. On the other hand i didn't have a plugin for the cue file in WMP but i now had a codec for the tta file. *big eye twitch* So a friend suggested to me the CUE splitter. (download from http://www.shareup.com/CUE_Splitter-download-30218.html)

What this cue splitter does is it uses the Cue file, which had created the chapters in the huge audio file, to split up the HUGE assed audio file into little easier to handle tracks. Now these files are just like normal music file. :D

But I still have the problem of the audio file being in true audio format so I could only use WMP. OMFG /rage anyhow I hope it has helped those of you who are also raging about Cue files or don't know what a tta file is. Or i hope i wasted enough of your time to make a difference to your life. It'll be cool if my post inspired someone to take up elimating the world of all these different sound codecs other than mp3 ofc. Mp3 = English. It should be the universal sound codec! if you want better quality download one with higher kbps. geez *grumbles*

Teh new model my parents are looking at foar meh:
Hyundai Accent
yesh phoar to the accent.

this is the 2000 model. LOL i was checking out how safety tests on it went. There's something called a "Pole test score" ROFL wth what do you do with that? *grabs a pole starts thrashing car* ok survived 5 mins with mah pole. all clear!

It's just basically a small car with the standard features. My bare essential features are air conditioning, Cd player, power steering and crumple zone. Maybe i should've put the crumple zone first...HEY that reminds me of all those interesting physics discussions we had *sighs* i miss those old sciencey days with my fellow young budding scientists (BTW guys did you know maansi got a Physics award at her Uni! ah~ my budding old physics buddy) So What do you guys think of the car? It seems like any other normal small car and it looks ok.

How awesome is the interior for the Hyundai accent hybrid 2006 T_T But i can't afford this.

I actually quite like the Toyota Seca. The old old one, like from 1989/1990, the one from initial D. Somehow it doesn't look like it's that old. I like the body shape, but the few I looked at were really too crappy to merit a mention.

OMG look at this Volkswagon Passat B5 *drools* it's all done up so pretty @_@

Please note the PS1 in the car BWAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHA

My god check out that audio. *hearts*

check out out the features the guy added at: http://www.clubb5.com/month/0802/index.shtml

Cars are too expensive of a hobby for me to get into. @___@ I don't think I'd have enough passion to keep going.

One last car! The 1991 Dodge Viper...sooooo cute! But I heard there are a few problems with it.

Memo to self: Parents going out. Turn off BIG POT in approximately 30 mins (4:05pm). Turn off LITTLE SAUCEPAN in approximately 15 min (3:50pm). Last time I forgot and something nasty happened to the food. T_T my poor dinner.

Portebello road, Portebello road, Street where the riches of ages are stowed.

Well i was watching this. I know i should be studying but...my sister turned on the TV and and hahaha well it was a good movie. Sort of.

I was annoyed with the many WWII(?) references. I'm not very good with my wars, but it was the war against Hitler's regime. I've read the book before and the book was not heavily based on the war, i'm pretty sure there wasn't any reference of war except as the reason to place the children in the country. In the movie the war theme kind of became the reason why they kept looking for the spell, in order to drive the invading hordes of Germans from English soil. *grumbles about war time propaganda* There was this scene in "Portobello Road" where they were dancing in the street and all these different officers from different nationalities came out to dance. Obviously English, Indian, Scottish, Irish I think there may have been American soldiers =/ hehe well it was funny how some guy started playing the piano and then BAM all these soldiers jumped out and started dancing.

I'm not saying they should've supported the Germans or anything like that, but movies are meant to provide a way to escape from reality. This movie is like an example of brainwashing children to an extent with colourful and happy songs. -.-" i'm just against propaganda.

Well anyway. :] now i want to go visit portobello road. But apparently now it's a huge gathering for antique dealers, no longer quaint and a collection of random bits and pieces from around the world. Now it's a proper established road for antique dealers. But i still want to go see it. : D

i want to see the places mentioned in Mary Poppins too! Like the huge bank where Jane and Michael ran away, and the steps of the something something where the "little old bird woman comes"...THE STEPS OF ST. PAUL. I remember now, only because i rememeber the song. hehehe aww i was a little disney movie junkie when i was a kid. As a matter of fact not much has changed now, i've just extended it to anime now. :] I want to dance in the park and ride the carousel with the penguins and sing SUPERCALIFRAGILISTICEXPIALIDOCIOUS (ok i cheated and googled the word xD) in the park while dancing with strange little animated men.

I want to win the Derby on a carousel horse. Childhood movies gave us a chance to dream. :] So too did books, but movies were so much more colourful and musical. but then books allowed us to add more and image characters we could love. teeheehee~ *giddy from childhood memories*

Look how pretty this scene looks. I wouldn't running amok over the rooftops of London either! hehe

ah Julie Andrews was an awesome Mary Poppins. *wanders off singing a Tea spoon of sugar*

What's wrong with English Bone Marrow?

(Mr. Bean is British enough for the content of this blog, except the blog isn't actually about Mr. Bean =/)

I was reading this phamplet on the "australian Bone Marrow Donor Resgistry" and there were a series of questions which required you to answer NO to before you could even think about being a donor. (Btw i hear when they take your bone marrow it's really painful because they don't give you an anaesthetic, something to do with the blood and the pressure, or something. the needle goes right through your bone T__T)

One of the questions was: "Lived in, or visitied England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, The Channel Islands or The Isle of Man for a cumulative period of six months or more between 1st January 1980 and 31st December 1996 inclusive?"

What's that question implying?!?! what happened in that area of the world (i persume it's around the United Kingdom area) during that time period!? was it some rare dangerous disease that had everlasting effects? omg i'm so worried now...
The rest of the questions were about male to male sex and other assorted diseases.

EDIT: we have an answer :]
Yin says:
it's to do with a fertiliser used in the 1980s
Yin says:
i forgot the name, but it was toxic and caused problems with various things
Yin says:
one i recall being bone marrow formation
Yin says:
it was banned but the effect lingered in the system for a long time

when I live on my own i'm going to own one of these!

Flavour is fat.

yosh! finished yet another exam and now i have 4 more days to study for the FINAL Pharmaceutical Chemistry exam. gah. I actually have to learn about Rheology and Solutions. eep. have no fear! ONLY ONE EXAM LEFT. good grief i won't know what to do with myself after exams... well get P's and the like. Celebrate my birthday. ok maybe there is stuff to do :P

Today there will be a few topics to go through. Due to overwhelming demand, trust me Adri demanding it is definitely overwhelming, she wanted me to "Blog it!". I assumed she meant:
1. Flavour is fat. How all the food we eat tastes sooooooo good, but it really is just all FAT. yes FAT. fat makes food taste good.

For example have you ever had Chicken? Well the fatter parts like the meat near the skin and the skin have so much more Flavour and juiciness. Why? it's because of the FAT. D: it soaks into the chicken making it alm moist and tastyful @__@ omg i'm gonna be over weight! nooo must stay in healthy BMI range!

that's it! after exams i'm dragging someone to go play tennis with me. or go gymming. Well some sort of physical activity! *stares at adri*

2. crap. oh not about crap. i just can't remember the 2nd thing she wanted me to blog about. hang on a sec i'll ask her. meh. i was hoping she was doing her ninja technique thing on msn. but no. seems like i'm the only ninja tonight. well when i remember or if she remembers she'll let me know!

HAHAHAHAHHHAHHA ROFL HAHAHHAHAHA i just watched this movie on SBS and it was just much much too funny! A spoof of Star Trek AND Star wars. i really like star wars but i've never seen star trek before. All i can say is that the jokes were just...lame but FUNNNY! and i just couldn't help but laugh at their funny accents (i think they said some of the words specificly to create humour so i'm not really laughing at their German accents! :])

Medicinal Chemistry. I can doooooo it!

I'm trying really hard for Med chem. Well more than I tried for PP or Physiol. But i don't think I'm cut out for all this Chemistry stuff D: I've been going over my notes and the things i should know off by heart...I DON'T. Whyyyyys T_T

"studying...incompetent" well i'm not as bad as Tenma. poor tenma *pats* especially when she forgot to write her name on her english quiz. poor harima *pinches cheeks* he tries so hard. :]

YOSH! i'm gonna be focused like Miko-chin and concentrate on doing well...uh just the doing well part. i don't wanna get into a uni for the sake of a "senpai" since i'm already in uni...doesn't really work... haha

also i'm finding it REALLY REALLY hard to stay focused in studying. I keep randomly dropping off to sleep. It's not the fault of my medication, it's actually my bodies response to my illness according to my pharmacist co-worker, "G"! We were chatting about colds and different treatments and about how some cough mixtures are stupid cause they have both uhhh pseudoephedrine? (i think it was this) which makes your phlegm and mucous liquidfy and so easier to cough up...it's apparently meant to make you could it all up. But also in the cough mixture there's codeine which is actually a cough SUPPRESSANT, meaning it turns off the responses in the brain which make you could. sooo... substance that makes you cough up phlegm easier + substance makes you not cough at all = st0opid. :]

OK that was enough breako! time to continue puzzling over cycloalkanes! YOSH!

damn you pi orbitals. you are so hard to imagine!

hello everyone reading my blog. :]
I would like to take this chance to thank everyone who has ever wandered over to my page. I appreciate your comments...ahem even if i might through a hissy fit first.

ADRI STOP READING THIS. i know you are. *glares* go study. this is NOT A FUNNY ENTRY.

anyway. finished physiology exam. I'm rpoud to say NO MISHAPS OCCURRED in the process of getting to this exam.

chance of pass: slightly leaning to my favour.

embarassing factor: see i don't like annoying people in exams cause i'm scared of disrupting their concentration. but i HAD NO CHOICE. *cough cough* *sneeze* *blow nose* *sniffle* *sniffle* *mutter* *sneeze* *blow nose* *cough cough cough cough* *not breath* *wheeze* yeh that was all me in the exam. Sorry my fellow pharmacists. :]

cold status: getting worse i think. medication is nearly finished and my cold still isn't disappearing. I think it's time to go see a doctor.

next exam: Medicinal Chemistry. I'm just gonna rest tonight. Massive headache from cramming with Adri on the train (the 6 anterior pituitary hormones are: FSH, LH (both Gonadtrophic), ACTH (adrenocitrotrophic), Growth Hormone, Thyroid Releasing hormone and prolactin), then cramming with Lusi. Well more like Adri yelling at me :P And yes I'm going to take her advice and sleep 10 hours and see if it helps :D

Another band I stumbled across on: Twelve Girls band.

Fusion of east and west. Wow...

The Well of Tears - CDT

A few days ago I finished this book by Cecilia Dart-thornton who wrote the BitterBynde Trilogy.

Concerning the BitterBynde trilogy: I loved this series. The heroine, Rohain/Imrhien/Tahquil was cleverly created, she has both wit and bravery! The characters you can come to adore. But one thing that marred the series was the last book - "Battle of Evernight". The ending was so disappointing because the main character's actions were so drastically changed from her usual actions. But the first two books were amazing.

Throughout all her books CDT does tend to give much too detailed descriptions, it detracts from the overall flow of the story. I guess I'm guilty of skipping alot of the pages when not alot was happening.

This book follows from where the first one left off. At the end of this book I got the impression that each book would be telling the life story of each generation of the Strang family. I was disappointed in the ending of this book a little bit, but she wrote it in a way that gave a little hope to how Jewel's fate would end up. Once again there was some strange twist in one of the characters that deviated from the characters normal behaviour. But maybe he was just...devastated from grief and just...snapped? eh. oh well. cbs typing anymore. It was fun to read, I did get a whole lot of suspense from it, but i'd reccommend The Bitterbynde series over this one. :]

PS. Arran sounds hot. But not as hot as Thorn. *swoons*

Carmen: a tale of sexual passion

the original carmen - not the one i watched ofc

Movie
Carmen

11pm – 1.05am SBS
Friday 8 June 2007
Set in 1830s Spain, this is the film adaptation of Prosper Mérimée's 1847 heady tale of dark sexual obsession. Bandit José used to be a sergeant in the army until he was seduced by the bewitching gypsy whore, Carmen, who confesses to having made a pact with the Devil. In a fit of jealousy, José kills his lieutenant and superior and takes to the hills, becoming a smuggler. That is, until One-Eye, who bought Carmen when she was 12, gets out of prison.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

It was interesting to watch the lengths a man would go to, to fulfill his overwhelming possessiveness over a woman. It was interesting to watch a woman get so caught up in having sex for the sake of sex.

Carmen was a difficult character to understand. Maybe because I had alot of trouble identifying with her. She went beyond whore or slut. I don't think you could even go in that direction to describe her, I think it is more likely a mental state, a need to feel superior to the men she conquered. Maybe she had a stereotypical "man-ego" where she needed sexual gratification in order to feel better about herself.

In the beginning it was easy to sympathise with Jose. Why? because he was so weak with passion, but considering she was his first "lover" as such it was strange he was immediately filled with such conviction that she was the ONLY one for him. (sounds more like infatuation...*shrugs*) For all we know she might really be a witch. But after the killings I no longer felt sorry for him, he really was an idiot and after a while even I could tell she was just using him. Well fie to him. Later he just became obsessed. *shakes head darkly* i'll leave it there ti avoid spoilers.

I don't think I like the idea of a man becoming so wildly possessed with the noiton of "owning" a woman. I understand the need for her to be faithful to only him, but I do not think it was the great "love" that he felt for her. Someone said that if you loved someone you would accept them for who they are. Love is not selfish. (uh i think this was oprah :X) But it's true love should not be selfish. I think this is where domestic violence so easily springs from, well more specifically men hurting their wives not just physically but also mentally may it be from controlling them or just exerting physical dominance. Most often these men blame it on their so called "love" that drove them to do it. No love should be like that. I'm also not saying love is everlasting either. Love should be self-less, understanding, compassionate, maybe an added proportion of sexual love. Perhaps I am building too grand a picture of love? Perhaps this love does not exist? But I think otherwise. There should exist a patient love, where someone loves quietly, maybe hoping for something in return but maybe just happy and joyous in the fact that they are allowed to love freely. This is a grand image of love is it not?

I guess the type of love i outlined requires someone with formidable characteristics. To be able to selflessly love one has to be self-less in the first place. To have understanding love one has to be able to empathise. etc etc. wow. what an ideal :] I don't think I am self-less, but i can dream that one day each person is fortunate enough to meet someone who compels them to achieve this state of "self-actualisation" where they become the best person they can ever become. I'm sure everyone would have lapses, but I hope that the person they meet can recognise the self-less person they want to become and help their partner overcome obstacles to achieve it. I realise there are other faults with this almost perfect love. You could bring in many factors like the opinion of family and friends, or your ever changing ideal of the person who you would want to love. It's all very confusing isn't it?

But I guess I can say that I know what kind of love I think I would like in the future from this point in time. Yet I know that I'm not set to stick to that one ideal forever simply because I do not know what my mind will be like in say 10 or even 5 years.

Whoa. Babble about love. Most of it incoherent. Well i was fun to rant for a while. I'm very grateful if any actually read far enough to reach the philosophical rant. I hope everyone has dreams too and I also hope that one day everyone can achieve their dreams, provided they're not perverted, dangerous or harmful to other beings in any way.
